Inservices

In addition to teaching IT classes, the Nido Elementary IT staff train and support teachers and admin staff as well.  This helps the teachers to integrate technology into their lessons whenever possible.

Regularly scheduled inservices that have been held in the past include:

• projector use
• SmartBoard/Mimio use
• Word processing
• Spreadsheets
• Inspiration
• PowerPoint
• iMovie
• blogs
• Google Earth
• SketchUp
• podcasts and more...

This can be in the form of scheduled group training sessions, smaller group sessions, or on a need-it-right-now basis.

Support

The Elementary ICT department is also there to help build resources for the classroom teachers.

In the past, the department has:

• built a resource of over 1 GB of movies for the Grade 5 Explorer unit.
• made movies for Grade 5 graduation
• created a movie for recess rules and expectations
• building PowerPoint presetations or Inspiration documents for classroom use
• finding appropriate web pages for classroom units
• provide laptop and projector support in class
• Google Earth files

Our support also includes helping staff with technical problems.
