Nov 16-20
Grade 1s: The Grade 1s will use Harcourt Mega Math to play math games. It allows us the opportunity to review log in and log out procedures with the students.
Grade 2s: The Grade 2s will complete their own radio weather station using GarageBand. This week will be week #3 for this assignment and the students will continue to record their radio programs. If we had everyone recording, the background noise would be too loud so we have 3 groups recording and the rest practice their typing skills. We will also send their radio broadcast to iTunes and their teacher.
Grade 3s: The Grade 3s will complete their iMovie. They're goal is to make a 30 second commercial based upon their favorite book or magazine. Week #3 in this assignment.
Grade 4s: The Grade 4s will work on their Video Podcasting. They will be focusing on creating a podcast that will explain some aspect of magnetism or electricitiy.
Grade 5s: The Grade 5s will complete their iMovie assignment on the Solar System.

Note on last week's Grade 4 and 5 classes. We were all impressed with the students reactions and responses to our presentation. Hopefully, they got the message that there are both good and negative aspects to sites such as Facebook. There is a facebook for kids at fbfkids.com, if you're interested. Please remember that we will be holding a session for parents Tuesday about Social Networking.

Grade 1s: The Grade 1s will use the website raylit.com to work on some language arts skills.
Grade 2s: The Grade 2s will make their own radio weather station using GarageBand. They will write a script and then record their voices.
Grade 3s: The Grade 3s will start to work in iMovie. They're goal is to make a 30 second commercial based upon their favorite book or magazine.
Grade 4s: The Grade 4s will be joined by our counselor, Miss Stephanie. We will discuss the good and the bad with regards to social networking. In particular, we will be focusing on the social/emotional aspects of Facebook.

October 25-29
Grade 1s: The Grade 1s will using various online math programs to help them with their math concepts.
Grade 2s: The Grade 2s will continue to use Inspiration to create a graphic organizer of weather concepts!
Grade 3s: The Grade 3s will continue to use a website called storybird to create their own stories!
Grade 4s: The Grade 4s will start a project where they will create their own video podcasts about Electricity or Magnetism!
Grade 5s: The Grade 5s will create their own iMovies on the Solar System.
October 12-16
Grade 1s: The Grade 1s will using a program called SumoPaint to draw their own pictures!
Grade 2s: The Grade 2s will use Inspiration to create a graphic organizer of weather!
Grade 3s: The Grade 3s will use a website called storybird to create their own stories!

October 3-9: Parent Teacher Week

Grade 3s: The Grade 3s will complete a technology survey that will help us in our upcoming technology plans plus do a typing test so we can gauge their progress in keyboarding.

Grade 1s: Will be learning how to use one of the following (depending upon the class): starfall.com or raz-kids.com.
Grade 2s: Mr. Dan and Miss Rebecca's class will be learning how to access their teacher's wiki and then practice their typing. The rest will focus solely on their typing skills by playing online game that can be found here.
Grade 3s: The Grade 3s will copmlete working on their PowerPoint presentation based upon their Plants unit.
Grade 4s: Will continue working on their ideal learning environment...in other words, they'll be creating their perfect classroom using SketchUp.
Grade 5s: The Grade 5s will finish working on creating an iMovie 15 second commercial based upon the 3 Be's (Kind, Respectful, Responsible). Mr. Stuart's class will be making a public service video based upon playground safety and playground rules.
Week of August 10-14
Grade 1s: Will be learning how to open a web browser, type in an URL, and naviage a web page including using the back button.Grade 2s: Will be creating a graph using Excel.
Grade 3s: The Grade 3s will be creating a PowerPoint presentation based upon their Plants unit.
Grade 4s: Will be creating the ideal learning environment...in other words, they'll be creating their perfect classroom using SketchUp.
